Where can I park?

Free valet parking is available on the day of surgery as well as for clinic visits from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the parent/caregiver. Valet parking is located on the first floor of the Reily Pavilion at the corner of Tulane Avenue and South Saratoga Street. Parking in the Saratoga and LaSalle garages is also available at no charge to the parent/caregiver. Visitors will be charged the posted daily/weekly rate.

Where can I stay while I’m here?

A member of our team will discuss what accommodations are available to you during your child’s hospitalization. The Deming Pavilion is an apartment building connected to Tulane Medical Center and has temporary housing for patients and/or families. The Deming Pavilion is connected via crosswalk to the hospital. Depending on your needs, we may reserve an efficiency, one or two bedroom apartment. The usual cost of this is $65-85 a night.

The Ronald McDonald House is located at 4403 Canal Street, and is $10 a night. Tulane provides shuttle service to and from the Ronald McDonald House daily. If none of these options are available, or if you prefer, we can obtain a voucher from Patient Relations for a $50 a night room at the Amerihost Hotel at 1300 Canal Street, right behind the hospital.

Other hotels are available for which you would have to register yourself: The Holiday Inn Express Downtown, located at 221 Carondolet Street, The Warwick Hotel, located at 1315 Gravier St, The Quality Inn and Suites, located at 210 O’Keefe Ave, The Ritz Carlton, located at 921 Canal St, and The Iberville Suites, located at 910 Iberville St are a few examples.

While your child is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) you, as the parent/caregiver, may rest in the PICU waiting room. There are two rooms, a common sleeping room and a resource room. Guests may visit you in the resource/waiting area where there are restroom facilities, TV and vending machines.

Can I bring my other children?

Children under the age of 14 years may not stay overnight in the hospital. Please do not bring any other children younger than 14 years of age with you for your child’s hospital stay.

If you absolutely must bring your other children, you will need to obtain accommodations at one of the options mentioned above. Children cannot be left unattended at any time; you must also bring a second adult (18 years or older) to watch them while you are with your hospitalized child.
