Dr. Emad Kandil, Chief of Endocrine Surgery at the Tulane University School of Medicine, is an internationally recognized leader in endocrine and oncological surgery, specializing in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery procedures. Under his guidance, the Tulane Thyroid Center performs more than 350 endocrine surgeries each year. Dr. Kandil works closely with each patient to craft a compassionate, patient-focused surgical treatment plan that provides the highest quality and greatest continuity of care. He was a neuroendocrine research fellow at New York University, and he completed his surgical residency at State University of New York-Health Sciences Center followed by an endocrinology and oncology surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Kandil is a board-certified surgeon and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons as well as an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. He is on the advisory board and editorial board for several medical journals and has presented to national and international organizations including the American Head and Neck Society, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the German Society of Surgery. As a teaching faculty member at the Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Kandil conducts research into endocrine-related diseases and instructs and proctors other surgeons in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted surgery.
