Updated visitor policy
Effective: 7/21/2020 until further notice.
To reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses, patients in inpatient or intensive care units are allowed only one visitor at a time. Other visitors are asked to remain home or wait off hospital property, as we must maintain social distancing guidelines.
The visiting hours at Tulane Medical Center are 8:00am - 6:00pm, seven days a week. No visitors are allowed inside the hospital outside of these times.
Each time a visitor arrives, they will go through the entrance screening process and then be directed to the security desk to check-in before going to the patient's room.
The visitor will receive a visitor card with the assigned patient room number written on it. The card will be available in admitting if the visitor is with the patient when they register, or at the security desk at the time of the first visit. This card can be given to another person to use, but only one visitor per patient will be allowed at one time.
One visitor may also accompany a patient to outpatient areas (outpatient surgery, clinic, tests and other procedures.) Outpatient visitors arriving outside of visiting hours are permitted.
All visitors will be screened upon entry and must properly wear the provided Level 1 mask at all times. Any visitors who screen positive will be not be allowed in our facilities. Visitors will also be expected to maintain social distancing of at least six feet from others and wash hands or use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting patient rooms.
No visitors are allowed for patients in areas treating COVID-19 patients.
We understand that this policy may be difficult for patients and visitors. However, we must make these visitor guidelines out of an abundance of caution to keep our patients and caregivers as safe as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and help to keep everyone safe.
